Location choice:

The Serb Orthodox Church provided land for the monument at the City Orthodox Cemetery because it is not a public space and is thus not subject to the 2003 Brčko District Law on Monuments and Symbols. According to that law, public land cannot be used for monuments when there isn‘t consent from all three constitutional peoples. Commemorations: Marking the anniversary of D. Mihailović‘s birth and death by the Ravna Gora Chetnik Movement.

Other information: Until 2003, a different monument to Draža Mihailović was located in Brčko, in the centre of town, at the Trg mira (Peace Square). It was made in 1991 in Belgrade and erected in 1992 in Vukovar. In 1997, it was removed from Vukovar and returned to Belgrade before being moved to Brčko in 1998. It was damaged several times in Brčko and pulled down at least once. In 2003, it was removed from Brčko on the basis of the Law on Monuments and Symbols. (D.
