Interpretation of the idea:

"The monument symbolises remembrance of civilian victims of war, imparting a message about lives that have been lost in vain, many such lives that for some individuals were nothing more than a ‘drop in the ocean,‘ so water will flow down the eight plaques. It will represent all those who were killed but also all of us who have been left behind without them. It should stand as a reminder that even one drop of blood (one drop of life) is a great loss and it should reflect thee sorrow of all of us who lost someone in a senseless war. The emptiness that family members of victims feel is intertwined with connecting threads beaded with water.
The monument should make the viewer feel sorrow and should be an eternal reminder of the value of human life." Direct quotation from questionnaire. Source: R. Ahmetović, President of the Association of family members of the missing, forcefully abducted and killed Bosniaks, Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Commemorations: "Currently, part of the structure where 197 civilian victims of war are buried with grave-markers is in use. There is empty space for burying 137 more civilians victims of war after they are found and identified." Direct quotation from questionnaire. Source: R.
