To victims of the Chetnik massacre
of 8 May 1992
Blessed are they which are persecuted
for righteousness‘ sake:
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:10
(names and years of birth of those killed and names of the missing with the following information: year of birth and year when registered as missing)
In memory of:
Civilian victims of a massacre missing since 1992 and three fallen soldiers
Ethnic group: Croats
Dimensions: Height: approx. 4.50 m Pedestal: 3.1 x 3.5 m
Built by the means of:
At the initiative of the then president of the local community, Ivan Filipović, and other citizens, the monument was erected by the HDZ BiH political party, with donations. The designer worked pro bono.
Authorship: Zvonko (Zvonimir) Marić
Interpretation of the idea:
"A symbol of the civilian victims of war. A union of eternity and futurism (modernism), of granite and stainless steel. A union of that which cannot be joined (text chosen by the local community)."
