The cemetery‘s dimensions and specific
organisation were modelled on the Serb Soldiers
Cemetery Zejtinlik in Salonica and it represents
a historical and memorial centre dedicated to the homeland war of RS 1992-1995.

The land for the cemetery was consecrated on 4 February 1996,
and the cemetery was consecrated on 8 November 2003.

uniformity of the cemetery and burial places

Code of conduct for visitors to the Serb Soldiers Memorial Cemetery Sokolac

1. Visitors, either individual or in groups, shall bow and cross themselves when entering through the gates, and shall then approach and kiss the base of the central cross, and if possible light a candle by the cross.
- By kissing the central cross, the visitors honour all the graves of Serb fighters.
- Following the kissing of the cross and lighting of candles, groups of visitors should receive a history lesson about the Serb Soldiers Cemetery lasting at most 5-7 minutes, allowing time for questions and answers. After the history lesson, the responsible person should say: "Eternal glory and gratitude to them. May God have mercy on their souls," and if the group includes a priest, he shall recite a prayer for the dead.
Following these ceremonial activities by the monument, the visitors may freely walk among the graves and read the inscriptions on the crosses.
- Before entering the cemetery, visitors should be advised that smoking cigarettes and chewing gum is inappropriate at the Soldiers Cemetery in order for the visit to remain dignified and pay proper respect to the soldiers and generals.
2. The Sokolac parish administration, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Nikolaj, directs priests to perform a memorial and requiem service for all graves of deceased Fighters on two occasions.
Early in the morning for Lent Memorial Service and on St Vitus Day, following Holy Mass.
